Background
Jonathan Smith began racing at age five on dirt bikes which led him to be the State Champion of BMX bicycles at age 12 during his first year. At age 14, Jonathan started racing go-karts where he competed in the Nite Series at Poughkeepsie Speedway finishing in 2nd place. Jonathan continued to race in competitive go-karting class and took home the championship.
